Last summer, a group of bloggers with diverse backgrounds from far flung locations  joined forces to become “The Garden Charmers”. Hailing from all over the US, Canada, as well as Europe, our name is derived from “a charm of birds” meaning a flock, and we all tend and love our gardens. We have really enjoyed getting to know each other as we work on projects together and support one another. So, now it’s your turn to get to know us, too! Meet all The Garden Charmers in this three-part series of mini-interviews. See their most popular posts and where you can find more of their wonderful work!

Meet Tanya of Lovely Greens!

Meet Tanya of Lovely Greens!

I started blogging in 2010, when I made the big move from London, UK, to the Isle of Man. Writing a blog helped me to detail and share my adventures in gardening, beekeeping, natural soap-making and exploring this beautiful island. It also turned out to be a great way to meet people with similar interests, both locally and abroad.

My blog includes a wide range of topics under the spectrum of ‘Simple Living’. For me, that means getting back to the basics through growing your own food, making and using natural health and beauty products, brewing your own wine, and reconnecting to nature through foraging, organic gardening and beekeeping. As a soap-maker, I’ve also shared a few recipes and am in the middle of writing a series on soap-making for beginners. Readers would be surprised to know that, up until about five years ago, I had no garden, no bees, had never made soap and didn’t own a single pair of wellies! How times have changed :)

Jacki of Drought Smart Plants !

Meet Jacki of Drought Smart Plants !

I’ve had websites and blogs for the past ten years or more, all on gardening topics – sometimes the plants themselves, other times where they like to grow, and what creatures to look for, encourage or deal with. I garden with organic methods, and try to persuade people to save the world, one garden at a time. My favorite topics are drought tolerant plants that thrive in challenging conditions like the crafts I make to put them in. Hypertufa, rustic salvage and pantyhose crafts are some of the most unusual ways I’ve devised to display plantings.

Most people would be surprised to know that I battle MS on a daily basis. Luckily for me, I have a caring and considerate husband who has some experience with MS and knows and understands that some days are just meant to recharge and relax.

Meet Lynne of Sensible Gardening & Living !

Meet Lynne of Sensible Gardening & Living !

The gardening bug affected me a long time ago. I can’t remember when I wasn’t interested in growing things, especially flower gardens. I’ve studied flowers, worked with flowers, painted flowers, designed gardens with flowers and now also talk about flowers in my blog. It was really my eldest son who suggested I start a blog to share all my accumulated gardening know-how. I would never of thought of it myself and without his help would never have got my blog off the ground. I started Sensible Gardening and Living in the late summer of 2012. Although mainly an informative gardening blog on the how-to of gardening and plants, I like to add garden-related DIY projects and reflective notes from time to time.

I like to pass on my gardening experience with the nitty gritty know-how of plants and gardening. I like to keep things simple and easy to understand, with a common sense approach to gardening. As we live with a great deal of wildlife, I also like to share how we co-exist with our wild neighbours. My motto is to keep gardening fun. Readers might be surprised to know that I have a particular passion for Hemerocallis (Daylilies) and operate a small daylily mail order business on our farm. I grow over 300 different cultivars. I’m totally addicted to this plant and the collection grows yearly. I’m also an amateur artist. I love to paint in water colours and acrylics and sell my artwork locally.
