Scrabble Tile Plant Labels
A year or so ago, I saw a wonderful idea featured at the NorthWest Flower Show posted by one of my favorite bloggers, Sow & Dipity. (Click here to see her inspiring post)
I loved the idea of repurposing old Scrabble letter tiles into plant labels for use in the garden and houseplants. It went on my “To-Do” list. Finally, I have had time to get to it and found they were fun and easy to make!
Two old Scrabble sets were found at yard sales for next to nothing. The paint stirring sticks were free from the paint store. Chalkboard paint left over from another project really highlights the letter tiles glued on with some Duco Cement’
Two coats of chalkpaint on the paint sticks later, I sat with a cup of coffee and formed all the plant-related words I could think of. “Zinnia” is a fifteen-point word if you are a Scrabble player! Gluing the tiles on was a cinch. Both the wooden tiles and the smaller plastic tiles looked great on the new plant labels and will be nice additions to our Master Gardener fundraiser this spring.
Now you know how easy they are to make, I hope you will make time to create some Scrabble Tile Plant Labels of your own.
Love your plant markers – I like anything using Scrabble tiles. I gave some friends Christmas ornaments using tiles to spell out their names. I make puzzles for weddings and plates or wall-hangings for Christmas and birthdays. I did gifts for 4 nephews at Christmas using their names and a hobby they enjoy (like baseball, strike, glove, ball, base, homerun, etc.) They have them in their bedrooms.
What great ideas, Barb! The hardest part is finding used Scrabble sets, isn’t it? :)
