Time on your hands? Need some fresh project ideas? Have I got the place for you! HomeTalk! “Making your home and garden better, together” is the mission statement of this wonderful social media community. If you haven’t discovered it yet, what are you waiting for? Even if you already are a HomeTalk fan, I’d like to point out to you some of my favorite HomeTalkers just in case you might have missed any of them!

HomeTalk, dedicated to do-it-yourself home and garden topics, is open to professionals, bloggers and regular folks who want to share their creativity with others. Once you join up for free, you can ask questions of the experts, view hundreds of interesting posts and even post your own wonderful ideas!

Now, I’m all about gardens, birds and a more rustic, farmhouse-style of decorating, and these are ten folks I always look forward to seeing new projects from. Believe me, it was hard to just choose ten; one hundred would have been easier! Take a look and see what I mean …

Spring window sill by Marianne Songbird

Gorgeous home and garden vignettes with a European touch are trademarks of Marianne Songbird. Quiet, understated elegance is the underlying presence in each of her diy projects. Although I am more of a dramatic color person, Marianne’s ideas give me the urge to paint everything white and decorate!

Cabinet feet from curtain finials by At The Picket Fence

For beautiful farmhouse-style decorating, I get inspiration from At The Picket Fence. Inexpensive fixes that look like pricey, custom work are her forte. My all-time favorite tip is the one pictured here, making stock cabinets look high-end with paint and feet made from curtain finials!

Quirky but useful is the main theme for all Gadget Sponge projects. Home and nature-inspired items are created from all sorts of upcycled stuff with a steam punk verve. They are kooky, clever and all one-of-a-kind. I especially love their birdfeeders!

outdoor vignette http://www.hometalk.com/houseofhawthornes

Outdoor Vignette by House of Hawthornes

For ideas on decorative use of vintage items, I recommend House Of Hawthornes. Whether it’s an ancient typewriter or an old galvanized pail, or watering can, it will be put to an artful use. Since I love to use old items I already have on hand, this is a perfect resource for me.

Pallet Bench by Donna of Funky Junk Interiors

The queen of taking a cast off item and transforming it has to be Donna of Funky Junk Interiors. A master of reclaimed wood, old kitchen ware and tools, Donna makes you want to run out to the shed, pull out old stuff and make something! Her rustic style, indoors and out, is just my cup of tea.

potting bench http://www.hometalk.com/designdreamsbyanne

Potting Bench by Anne of Design Dreams By Anne

A thrifty girl after my own heart, Anne of Design Dreams By Anne has terrific ideas to update and beautify your home on a tight budget. Naturally, I love her gardening ideas the best, but you should see how she is fixing up her own home! Best of all, Anne tells and shows you how to do it yourself for less, too!

tomato varieties http://www.hometalk.com/o0ocpyc5gb

Tomato Varieties post by Douglas Hunt

HomeTalk’s gardening go-to guy is Douglas Hunt. A consummate plantsman and professional gardener by trade, Douglas answers even the most obscure questions regarding plant species and their care. I learn something every time I read one of his posts or answers to readers’ questions.

If you enjoy decorating with natural materials, you’ll love the Home Is Where The Boat Is posts on HomeTalk! Mary has a way of making everyday items extraordinary in her vignettes. She decorates her potting shed for the seasons so beautifully – I could just move in!

Nitty Gritty Dirt Man has wonderful garden posts and a very cool name besides! Although he is relatively new to HomeTalk, I look forward to seeing his commentaries and projects. By the way, I am totally in love with his combination greenhouse potting shed!

Flea Market Gardening http://www.hometalk.com/fleamarketgardening

Flea Market Gardening

One of my favorites on Hometalk is Flea Market Gardening . I just love the way Sue gathers wonderful projects from her readers and shares them. If you love repurposing, junking, dumpster diving and gardening – this is a combination of them all! Great ideas and how-to’s as well.

Of course, I am partial to all of The Garden Charmers (our home & gardening blog group) but for this post I wanted to reach outside our little circle. I recommend checking us all out on HomeTalk too. Here’s where to look!
