Memorial Day and Fourth of July entertaining can be less work if you plan outside picnic barbecues combining food stations and pot-luck style. Make the main course, such as Mrs. Gordy’s BBQ-ed Chicken and my grandma’s Potato Salad serve as your meal foundation, and have guests add their special side dishes, salads and desserts. Spend a little time coordinating who will bring what and less time in the kitchen! You don’t have to go broke making a themed party! Make your barbecue an event by mixing and matching red, white and blue plates, napkins and table accents. Since they are primary colors, it is easy to find inexpensive paper goods for a speedy clean-up. That way you only need a few specialty plates or napkins with flags or stars. Red carnations and white baby’s breath in blue Mason jars set the mood with easy centerpieces. Tie utensil sets up with twine and pretty white paper doilies. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran and feel everyone should be more Patriotic. Love the red, white and blue in your flowers and well as throughout your theme. We have used logs to sit on when we ran out of chairs. Good way of putting mother nature back into the festivities. Love your gardens and yard.
