Bed Springs Trellis
Trash pick’in happens unexpectedly! Sometimes I find the best stuff just cruising along minding my own business. Like this wonderful crib-size bed springs piece that was sitting out there leaning against a trashcan on my shortcut to the hardware store. Couldn’t just leave it there, now could I? So I hauled it home and started thinking about where to put it.
A trip to an Amish nursery later, I was in need of a trellis for a sweet, young Clematis vine. Out came the bed springs to be leaned onto our weathered split rail fence. They make quite a nice combination in my opinion.
This was quick and easy ~ simply lean the bed springs slightly against the fence (attach with wire, zip ties, etc. if your spot gets wind) and plant the Clematis (or vine of your choice) in front.
You can see that my new Clematis start is happily weaving through the bed springs. After it is well established, I’ll cut the wooden support out.
So, That’s my new trellis ~ free works for me!
I love it!
Thanks, Joanna! Love those rusty springs – fits right in to my repurposed shutter garden!
