Mug Pots
I have been wanting to try my hand at this simple Sharpie craft I’ve seen on Pinterest. With a Master Gardener fundraiser coming up, I decided this would be a perfect time.
Use an oil paint Sharpie permanent pen to draw faces on mugs, bowls or pots. You can draw the designs on lightly in pencil first, if you like. I freehanded my designs on four Dollar Store mugs. Use black and white, like I did, or have some fun with color!
After drawing the faces, let them dry for a few hours. Then place the mugs in a cool oven and turn it on to 300 degrees. Set a timer for 20 minutes, then turn off the oven. Let the mugs stay in the oven until cool. By doing this, you keep the mugs from getting too hot or cool quickly, which could cause them to crack.
Once the mugs have cooled, add potting soil and plants of your choice. Remember that there are no drainage holes, and water the new plants carefully.
Four Dollar Store mugs, a little potting soil and some spider plant starts make for some cute little Mug Pots! A cute little craft for kids and adults alike!
Here are some “Mugsies” on colored mugs!
too cute!
Thanks, Helen! They are quick to make and have lots of possibilities!
Be sure to let us know the details of the sale!
I would like to attend.
Master Gardeners will have tables as part of the annual University of Delaware Ag Day on April 30th this year, Nan! Look for ours! :)
I’ve put this event on my calendar. Thanks Barb!
